Special Event Planned for Splatoon 2

With the world in the grips of the deadly COViD-19 global pandemic, people have turned to video games to help the time under quarantine and stay at home orders go by. Releasing in March, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has seen this upturn in the video game market help it to become the third-largest launch for any Nintendo title.

Now with April winding down, Nintendo is planning on launching a special demo event for Splatoon 2, which will unleash a sort of “free play days” style demo for the title from April 29 at 11:00 pm PT up to May 6 at 5:69am PT.

The special demo will be available to download ahead of the event so that you can jump into gameplay as soon as the event starts. During the event, you will be able to play online and fight in 4-on-4 Turf War battles with your friends and other players who already own the full game. You will also be able to play Ranked Battles and the Salmon Run co-op modes.

Nintendo Switch Online free trial

After downloading the free special demo from the eShop, you will receive an email from Nintendo with a download code for a free 7-day trial for Nintendo Switch Online. Just enter it as you would any other eShop code. Even if you’ve entered other free trial codes in the past, Nintendo has said you are still eligible for this trial, as well.

Special Saving Event

Along with this special demo event, Nintendo is making the full title available on the Nintendo eShop at a 30% discount for the duration of the event. The progress that you make during this special demo will carry over into the full game if you purchase it.

Train for Splatfest!

With the last little bit of Splatoon 2 news, Nintendo is preparing the condiments for a bonus Mayo vs Ketchup Splatfest! You can join this online event from May 22 at 3 pm PT until May 24 at 3 pm PT. Team Mayo won the crown last time, will Team Ketchup be able to ketch-up this time. Sorry, had to steal that line from Nintendo.
