Nintendo of America employee has tested positive for COViD-19
With the COViD-19 pandemic, formally called the Novel Coronavirus, spreading around the world the video game industry has not been immune to its ill effects. With recent game delays and the entirety of the 2020 Electronic Entertainment Expo(E3 2020) being canceled outright, the news just keeps getting worse. Nintendo has been monitoring this situation closely as the headquarters of Nintendo of America is based in Washington state, one of the hardest-hit states in the United States so far.
Now the news for Nintendo has got worse. Thursday evening, Nintendo of America confirmed to the Seattle Times, that one of its employees has tested positive for the COViD-19 virus and had been in contact with other NoA employees. Nintendo of America released a statement saying that all employees who were in contact with the person who tested positive are currently in self-quarantine, whether they are showing symptoms or not.
“Nintendo of America is supporting this individual as they recover and will continue to take precautions to safeguard the health and well-being of all our employees and the broader community,” the statement said.
Nintendo of America has decided to allow all employees in Washington state and California to work from home to prevent further issues from this viral outbreak. We all hope for the speedy recovery of this employee and all those affected by this virus.
