With Super Mario Maker 2 just around the corner in June and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate still dominating headlines with recent DLC releases, it’s not shocking that a lot of us have forgotten about Luigi’s Mansion 3 is supposed to release this year.
First announced in a Nintendo Direct presentation last year in September, little has been said about the game since that time. We expect this will change at this years E3 Direct presentation, with hopefully a firm release date. Earlier this year UK online retailer Base.com a release date for Luigi’s Mansion 3 set at July 19th of this year.
Recently discovered listing from the Game Rating and Administration Committee in South Korea suggests that Base.com may have not been off by much with the July release date. The only thing that would make me hesitant on believing this rumor would be July 19 will also see the release of Nintendo published Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order.
While this is technically a third party title, with Nintendo’s connection to the title I do not see them launch Luigi’s Mansion 3 on the same date like that. They could release it a week earlier, here it would see the competition with Dragon Quest Builders 2 which is possible but I do not see them pushing it the other way as July 26 is the expected launch date of Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
It is reassuring that Nintendo has not forgotten about the title being a 2019 title, however, they have given us very little information about the title. Of course, we’ll more than likely find out more about the title at the upcoming E3 Direct presentation in early June. I personally see an early to mid-August launch for the title to be likely.
