Kingdom Hearts III Propels Sony to Number One

With two major blockbuster titles releasing, Kingdom Hears III and Resident Evil 2 Remake, Sony finally clawed its way back on top of the sales boards. The week ending January 27 say Sony’s elder hardware take the top two spots in software with Kingdom Hearts III placing number one with 610k units sold, followed by Resident Evil 2 with 252k units sold. Nintendo still dominated the top ten with 7 of the top ten titles being Switch titles, with number three being New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe selling 38k units. Coming in just outside of the top three titles was Super Smash Bros. Ultimate bringing in just over 38k units, bringing its LTD totals to close to 2.8 million units sold.

Hardware Sales

With the system sellers coming out this week, the PlayStation 4 also took over the number one overall spot in hardware, with the PlayStation 4 family selling 52,644 units. Followed closely by the Switch at 52,429 units. It is kind of surprising that the Switch came that close to totally the entirety of the PlayStation 4 family with no major releases going against the PlayStation 4’s two blockbuster titles.
